Frequently Asked Questions
We begin by either visiting your facility (preferred) and assessing the vulnerable area(s). We then determine where the most appropriate location for each camera is, and what type of cameras should be used. You make the final decision, however. We then install the units, using our mobile WiFi connections. These will require a power source. Subsequently, we provide you with the administrative passwords, which you can change at any time. We receive the second-level password authority. From teh moment that the system goes “live,” we will respond to each triggered activity that is relevant to the investigation. At any time that we identify a suspicious activity, we may notify you and seek your decision as to whether to continue or to close the investigation and interview target(s).
Upon identifying a questionable activity, we may contact you for further guidance. However, we recommend maintaining the cameras for the full two-week period. During that time, the entire activity range will be recorded either on Cloud storage or on micro-SD cards in the camera unit. You can access these records at any time.
We will review any activity that is recorded frequently within the two weeks to ensure that all questionable items are identified.
With your approval, we will conduct any exit interviews required at the end of teh two-week period.
At the conclusion of the surveillance period, we will provide you with a report on all areas of concern that we have identified with recommendations for resolution. This concluding report looks at preventive measures that you can implement at your discretion.
We have an array of possible camera systems available. These include concealed cameras (e.g. in multi-plug unit, clock, smoke detector, pinhole hidden units or open systems). We will provide recommendations as to which cameras to use for your layout. Note that, although some cameras have two-way voice capabilities, we do not allow activation of any listening devices for general surveillance, in accordance with Canada’s Criminal Code. Only conversations to which you, your agent or we are party can be recorded.
By law, no cameras may be installed where a person has an expectation of privacy. This includes change rooms, locker areas or other private areas. While you may be allowed to install cameras in lunchrooms, they should only be used where there is a compelling reason (e.g. concealment of property). Cameras may be installed in any other area where access to others is not restricted and over which you have control.
There are a couple of ways. All of our cameras are motion-activated, so when there is no activity, they do not record unless we specifically set them to do so. We also “key in” on specific movements, times and activities that are high-risk. We may use A.I.-assisted software that is triggered by specific actions (e.g. putting hands in pockets).
Yes and no. We contact you as soon as we detect actual, verifiable deviant activity or whenever we detect an emerging risk. Where we suspect activity that is not consistent with normal behaviour in that circumstance, we prefer to review and evaluate to determine if the action is benign or not.
For any behaviour that puts others at risk, we alert you by text as soon as is possible.
That depends on the type of business. For instance, a retailer with high sales volume, the cashier (if that is whom we are monitoring) may be at their till four hours out of the shift. We will record all the activity and watch whenever the cash drawer opens. That may mean we watch that workstation as much as two or three hours per day, for their entire 10-day work period.
On the other hand, a receiver may only be working at the shipping/receiving area an hour each day, triggering the cameras.
And a cash office or bookkeeping area may see even less activity.
The fees may seem low, but we have, through decades of experience, learned how to maximize observation and quality of results, while minimizing time required. We monitor eight cameras on each of two screens simultaneously, using video switches and splitters for each monitor. We attempt to match ongoing investigations so that, any given time, no more than two of those eight cameras will have simultaneous activity. That means that, with eight investigations monitored concurrently, we can generate adequate revenue without sacrificing quality. If any suspicious activity is missed, we conduct an end-of-day review.
Thus, we generate revenue from six to eight installations at a time.
This process generates an average of $545-90 net revenue per system, each consuming 16 hours of observation time (128 hours). That allows for $34/hr. revenue. In addition, many clients purchase the cameras at the end of the monitoring period.
Each package is 14 days in duration. During that time, we monitor any activity that causes the motion sensors to activate the cameras to record. This feature operates 24 hours per day. You may disable it at any time. After 14 days, if a significant problem is identified (e.g. fraud or theft), you may direct us to continue for another two-week period or you may terminate the observation and direct us to remove the camera systems. You may, however, opt to purchase the cameras at a price agreed upon at the time of installation.
